EL CIM D’ALTEA

Altea, The White Village, is one of the jewels of the Marina Baixa in the province of Alicante (Spain). The white-walled houses look every day over the sea, crowned at the top of the hill by the church Nuestra Señora del Consuelo (“Our Lady of Solace”). The town is home to great people, culture and traditions.

Near this church takes place every year the Vila d’Altea International Music Competition, one of the most prestigious contests in the international wind band scene, which has given the world great works and great performances. A contest that in 2024 celebrates its 50th edition, an event that Fundación Sanganxa wanted to celebrate through its first pasodoble composition contest.

The pasodoble EL CIM D’ALTEA is a work full of life and light, with melodious and cheerful lines to homage the town, its contest and all the people who make it and have made it possible.

Composition awarded with the First Prize in the 1st Concurso de Pasodobles Fundació Sanganxa 2024.

This work was premiered on 19 May 2024, at the Palau Altea Centre d’Arts, performed by the Sociedad Filharmònica Alteanense, conducted Rafael Garrigós. To all of them, my deepest thanks.

Altea, La Villa Blanca, es una de las joyas de la Marina Baixa, en la provincia de Alicante. Sus casas de blancos muros miran cada día al mar, presididas en la cima de la atalaya por la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo. La ciudad es un hervidero de buenas gentes, cultura y tradiciones, destacando sus fiestas de Moros y Cristianos.

Cerca de la iglesia se celebra cada año el Certamen Internacional de Música Villa de Altea, el CIM d’Altea, uno de los más prestigiosos del panorama bandístico internacional, del cual han salido tanto grandes obras como grandes interpretaciones. Un concurso que en 2024 celebra su 50ª edición, efeméride que la Fundación Sanganxa ha querido celebrar a través de su primer concurso de pasodobles.

El pasodoble EL CIM D’ALTEA es obra vivaz y luminosa, de líneas claras y alegres, con las que se pretende rendir homenaje a la villa, a su certamen y a todas las personas que lo hacen y han hecho posible.
